stone ribs
Stoneribs is an honor awarded to the one
participant who makes the most positive personal
changes and contributes the most to the group in
terms of help and support. It is derived from an old
Haida legend about a young boy who overcomes
weakness, fear and a lack of confidence to battle
many adversaries and triumph in the end. The
recipient is chosen through the process of a vote
held on the last day by the entire group. A final feast
is held on the last night of each trip where Stoneribs
is celebrated along with the accomplishments of the
rest of the group during their time together. Each
Stoneribs then gets to sign and date a large whale
rib kept at the camp to forever mark their achievement.
